Can You Get Beautiful Skin from a Green Smoothie?

Lately, I have been OBSESSED with reading Kimberly Snyder's Health and Beauty Blog. Based in New York, Snyder is a raw foodie, clinical nutritionist, yoga master, and chef to the stars (she recently was on the set of "When in Rome"). Snyder only eats raw food, meaning she doesn't eat anything cooked above 118 degrees Fahrenheit - which means no meat! But, according to Snyder, the benefits of eating all organic, raw foods (think lots of leafy greens, vegetables, fruit, nuts, etc.) are endless: it heals the body from the cellular level up, increases energy, increases efficient digestion, provides ongoing cleansing, and even leads to glowing healthy skin, among a bevy of other beauty benefits! Snyder’s philosophy is that "Outer Beauty is a Reflection of Inner Health."

So now I bring you to the Green Smoothie. Each morning Snyder starts off her day with a Green Smoothie, packed with tons of green vegetables and certain fruits. Many of the ingredients can help with common beauty woes. For instance, according to Snyder, under eye circles can be reduced by eating foods high in organic sodium (celery, kale, spinach, olives) and a beautiful glow can be achieved by incorporating more organic radishes in your diet!

If you look above, you'll see a green smoothie I made recently in my blender - all it consists of is spinach, a cup of cold water, an organic apple, and a banana. It was a little thick (I should have added some more water) and tough to get down, but honestly you could really only taste the fruit! I'm going to try to drink them more often - say maybe once or twice a week. I am NOT a raw foodist and I barely eat any organic foods. But I am curious to see if these Green Smoothies add any of the above benefits Snyder mentioned to my life.

Snyder says 60-70% of whatever we put onto our skin is absorbed through the dermis, and ends up in our bloodstream and has to be processed by the liver. Needless to say, she is not a big proponent of makeup. So if you girls are sick of going out and buying foundations, concealers, and moisturizers to hide your flaws, maybe you can head to your local supermarket to find some alternative solutions!

Laura Geller's Lip & Eye Spackle Not So Spectacular

~Laura Geller's Eye Spackle Formula Applied to Lid~

~Eyeshadow Over Laura Geller's Eye Spackle Formula~

~Eyeshadow 8 Hours Later...~

Evening everybody! So I want to start off by saying that I had high hopes for Laura Geller's Lip & Eye Spackle. Since the consistency of it is so thick, I really thought it would help my eyeshadow to last throughout the day. But, judging from the photos above, I'm truly disappointed in it! Now, I know that there is no magical formula out there that is going to keep a girl's eyeshadow on completely for the entire day, but for $20+ I thought Laura Geller had something more powerful up her sleeve!

I haven't tried the lip spackle portion of this duo yet, just because it's winter time and my lips are really chapped. But based on reviews from Makeupalley.com, I've heard that the formula is chalky and doesn't amplify the true color of the lipstick like it's supposed to.

Sadly, I'm giving two thumbs down on this product! :( BUT this was an experiment. I'm also going to test out the staying power of my Urban Decay Primer Potion and Two-Faced Shadow Insurance, so keep checking back for photos and details!

My biggest regret: MAKE UP FOR EVER's AQUA SMOKY LASH

Words truly can't describe how much I hate MAKE UP FOR EVER's Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara. The formula is runny and always seems to get on my contacts when I apply it to my lashes. And after applying it to my lashes, black specks appear under my bottom lashes everytime I blink! I guess I have to hold my eyes open and not blink until it's dry? It's terrible. For $22, I should have taken it straight back to Sephora, but, stupidly, I didn't. Now it just sits in my makeup case collecting dust.

My Valentine's Day Look

Hello everyone! I hope ya'll had a great Valentine's Day! So above is the look I wore for Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. Here are the products I used:

- I blended MAC's Lala eyeshadow on the outer corner of my eye (I brought the eyeshadow slightly above my crease. I was trying to create a more "angular" look). Be sure to blend harsh lines with a fluffy brush.
- Then from Revlon's Azure Mist 12-hour eyeshadow quad, I patted on the first silver color to my eyelid, just to create a little more shimmer
- I lined the top and bottom lashes with a black pencil eyeliner
- From Revlon's 10 Berry Bloom 12-hour eyeshadow quad, I took the darkest purple color and patted it over the black liner on my top and bottom of my eyes
- Using my Coastal Scents 88 palette, I just took a matte color closest to my skin tone and applied it under my brow
- I curled my eyelashes and applied Maybelline's Pulse Perfection Mascara to my lashes
- I finished the look with a nude shimmer lip gloss

That's it! Hope you like it!

A Hair Straightening Product that Works...and Smells Like Cake!

Hey everyone - so I wanted to tell you about a product that I have been using for the past year and love. I first learned about Unite's Lazer Straight Relaxing Fluid from my hair stylist at James Joseph Studio (thanks Kelly!). She always puts this product into my hair when it's wet and I literally salivate immediately because it smells just like cake! But besides the incredible - and dangerous smell - Unite's Lazer Straight Relaxing Fluid works. I have wavy hair and right now I'm trying to grow it longer (I have layers) so it's in a kind of weird state. What I like is that this product does not weigh your hair down like other straighteners. According to Unite's website, the Lazer Straight Relaxing Fluid "enhances weightless shine, smoothes and tames curly, wavy, or frizzy hair, acts as a thermal protectant, and you will never feel more in control." I apply this product in my hair daily, after using shampoo and conditioner and then quickly drying off my hair in a towel. I use a comb to brush it through my hair.

So, if you like straight hair - and cake! - then this product is for you!

I LOVE Sephora's Angled Shadow Brush

I had seen some tutorials on YouTube that used a large angled brush to apply a contour color to the crease and outer corner, so I decided to invest in one for my own collection. I went to Sephora and purchased Sephora's Angled Shadow Brush #20 and I LOVE it. I've seriously been using it everyday. This brush is extremely soft and precise. Honestly, you can use this to apply eyeshadow to your lid and to put darker colors in your crease and outer V. Definitely a must have in every girl's makeup collection!
